EMSE
The Software for Multimodal Neuro-imaging and Source Localization from EEG and MEG
EMSE is a unique software package that consists of different
modules, which together form a truly complete package for the use, processing
and integration of EEG, MEG, MRI and fMRI data. The software runs under Windows
on practically any PC.
The EMSE Modules
Locator:
To determine the electrode locations and the shape of the head.
Supports the use of Polhemus Fastrak as measuring
device for the 3D coordinates.
Can also be used for localizing other sensors, like the MEG
sensors.
Data Editor: Reads your EEG and MEG data.
Then you can process this data with operations like filters, frequency analysis,
PCA, Wavelet analysis, topographic mapping, statistics, dipole simulations, ERP,
Averaging, artifact rejection etc.
Source
Estimator: From
the EEG and MEG the source of the activity in the brains can be calculated with
this module. Several source models are available, like the spatiotemporal dipole
model and distributed source models like LORETA, MUSIC, PRoMS. It is possible to
also fit dipoles in the frequency domain and use the cortical surface as a
contstraint. The dipole search can be guided by fMRI results!
For
the head model (volume conductor) either the spherical model can be used, or the
realistically shaped volume conductor, by means of the Boundary Element Model (BEM). MR
Viewer:
The MR Viewer reads MR data (and other image
modalities like PET). In this module you can display the results of the source
estimator. This module also takes care of the registration of different image
modalities with each other (for instance PET and fMRI data) Image Processor: Extensive
image processing takes place in this module. It includes operators like filters,
edge detection, segmentation (for creating the head model for instance), MESH
generation, BEM modelling, cortex inflation. For most functions easy to use
Wizards are available that guide you through the operation.
Visualizer: In
this module, everything comes together. All available information can be viewed
here in 3D; sources (dipoles and CSD), electrodes, the head and the brain.
Through the Windows Clipboard it is easy to transfer graphics to any other
windows application like word or powerpoint for your presentation or
publication.
